The Remembering Partition project is dedicated to exploring the concept of remembrance, commemoration, and education in relation to understanding and navigating the enduring impact of the Empire on the South Asian community in Britain.

Remembering Partition is a six-month  (April – September 2023) project funded by the Mayor of London’s initiative, The Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm – Untold Stories fund, which has also supported the development of concept ideas for a memorial and of a digital and physical heritage trail in London which tells the story of Partition through the historical, political, and social activities of South Asian figures in London during the post-war period, linking with the events of Partition in India, and the stories of the survivors now residing in London.

We have also established an advisory board that will support our longer-term ambition of creating a memorial or space in London to commemorate the human stories of the 1947 Partition of India, their connections to communities in London and the history of London in the context of public spaces.
