There is little documentation of the lives of Muslim migrants coming to the UK during the mid twentieth century. The little we do know is usually based around their work life and the countries need for labourers at the time.

So imagine my surprise when I was inundated by a vast collection of photos that I have termed ‘Bachelors and Landmarks’. The images show young very well dressed men outside some of the most well- known landmarks in London, providing a unique insight to the less known social life of the early settlers. From the dapper attire it is not possible to know which of these men came from wealthy educated backgrounds and those who worked on the buses and in the factories.

If you have similar photos then share and archive them for the future by uploading to our Flickr page Everyday Muslim.
